    This is a portrait of Emil Bode.   Emil Bode was born in Howell, Michigan, 1872.  He died 1962 and  was a lifelong resident of Howell, Michigan, graduating from Howell High School in 1895.   He lives most of his adult life at 719 North Michigan Avenue, Howell, Michigan.

    Emil Bode held many positions throughout his lifetime including postal clerk, comptroller at the Borden Milk Factory and Citizens Mutual Insurance Company.  He was also an editor for the Livingston Republican, and contributor to many local organizations including the First Presbyterian Church in Howell, the Howell City Park, and the Chemung Hills Golf Club.  Mr. Bode frequently contributed historical sketches of Howell that appeared in the local paper.

    This is a photograph, sideview, of the original home of E.J. Hardy who wanted it to be large enough for all the children and their families.  It was near M-59.  The last house built by E.J. Hardy was "long and narrow".  The names of the people and date are unknown.

    These are photographs of Ephraim Jennings Hardy, born 4/2/1817 in Vermont, and died 11/15/1899 in Osceola Township, Livingston County, Michigan. He arrived in Osceola about 1835; he was a Michigan pioneer.

    This is two pictures of the Hardy Farm which was established by Ephraim Jennings Hardy, who later jointly owned it with his son, Ephraim Wilson Hardy. He was the sole owner at the time of these photographs, around 1920. They raised Shetland ponies and Holstein cattle with other livestock. The location was Sections 23 and 20 in Osceola Township.
